Employed as senior manager of sales operation and strategy at Abbott Laboratories, Zariq Siddiqui works in the healthcare firm’s Nutrition Products Division. In his role, he oversees the sales of cutting-edge nutritional products for infants through adults. A philanthropic individual, Zariq Siddiqui supports numerous nonprofit organizations, including Heifer International.

Established more than 70 years ago, Heifer International aims to provide poverty-stricken families with the ability to achieve self-reliance. More than just giving families handouts, Heifer International brings sustaining agriculture and commerce to areas experiencing poverty. Referred to as “passing on the gift,” this means that families who receive livestock from Heifer International must share the training they receive, and also pass along the first female offspring of their livestock to another family.

In July 2015, Heifer International’s Malawi branch announced that it had donated cement, mash, water guard, and nails to around 600 dairy farmers. These farmers live in the Matapwata, Thyolo Centre, and Khonjeni Extension Planning Areas. The organization provided these items to help improve living conditions which had suffered due to heavy rains that occurred earlier in the year. The items should also help to improve sanitation in the homes of the farmers.
